No matter how hard you try to stay in contact with the horses you sell it never always works out. However thanks to our prefix and the wonders of the www Sonia of South Wales contacted us re Roobee. Sonia turned out to be Roobee's fifth owner and was purchased to ride. Unexpectedly Roobee started to change shape and started to bag up - yep she was in foal (unknown when sold) and to an unknown stallion !! Sonia watched closely, gave her the very best of care in her final few weeks and on 5th May a colt foal was born to Roobee Tuesday. Thankfully all is well. Although the sire of the foal is unknown the breeding of Roobee is tremendous (Rubicund TB x Lizzie of Larchmont). Within this TB pedigree Roobee has a Triple Crown Champion , 2000 Guineas winner and Stallion of the Century (Nijinsky); Kentucky Derby winner (Northern Dancer); and "one of the greatest racehorses of the 20th century (Nearco).
On the dam's side (Lizzie of Larchmont APHC USA) there is Blushing Groom and Hyperion - the 1930 winner of the Epsom Derby and the St. Leger. Lizzie was also the dam of a great many well known successful Appaloosas - including our own Mannog April Blues. Sadly Lizzie died early 2011 (see Chamfron Stud).
This young colt may not know his dad but boy will he be able to run! He will be eligible for part bred Appaloosa status as well.
All the best Sonia and Roobee and thanks for getting in touch with me here at Mannog Appaloosas.

We are delighted to announce that Ozzie (two year old gelding) has found a lovely home with Auriol and Stuart in Hampshire where he will be much loved . He had a long hot journey down on Easter Saturday but travelled really well - the first time on his own. He has already made friends with his equine companions - well the mare anyway - the gelding needs a bit of persuading . Ozzie has also been much admired by the humans. We wish him and Auriol all the very best and hope he settles in well.
Update: Ozzie making friends 1st May. Apparently the gelding has also agreed to sign the peace treaty.
Thanks Auriol for the pics .
Above: Ozzie at home prior to the move.
