Well wonders will never cease and thanks again to the www I have managed to find Mannog Juliette (or "Princess Cupcake" as the current owners call her!!) Part bred Appaloosa mare. (Spotless Rainbow APHC -x Gemma - Welsh cob type of unknown breeding). Now living on the Isle of Man.
Although bearing the "Mannog" prefix Juliette was sired by a local APHC stallion Spotless Rainbow ( Amazing Blue x Evergreen Alaska) who stood at that time at Lythill Appaloosas , Shrewsbury. Our stud was still in its very early stages and we did not have our own stallions so we had to source a quality Appaloosa stallion with proven show ring success. The mare ,Gemma, was one of those rescue buys - owner lost grazing etc etc so you take pity. However Gemma was a quality mare with a definite Welsh cob background somewhere along the line and produced a number of lovely part bred Appaloosas for us.
I knew that Juliette had moved from the Wirral to the Isle of Man and a plea on a local forum did the trick. I was contacted by her current owners Joanna and her daughter/rider Tabby with up to date news and pictures and WOW has our girl done good!
Juliette is competing/winning in dressage, hunter trials, BE One Day Eventing (coming over to the mainland to compete), show jumping and showing. Juliette jumps 110cm with ease and Tabby and Juliette were selected for the Manx Horse Trials Team in 2010 where they came 5th overall.
Her best show success so far was at the Royal Manx Agricultural Show August 2010 (the blue riband show of the Manx year) when she won the 15. hh WHP class but then went onto achieve RESERVE CHAMPION WHP at the Show. Apparently she was well behaved, did a perfect ridden show and was very stylish around the jumping section - going clear. How great to have the "MANNOG" prefix listed at this show.
Juliette has a most wonderful loving knowledgeable home - they say of her:
"She is a joy to compete with because she is so willing , easy to load, keep in winter and a joy in the stable. A very funny character. She jumps anything and is very bold and good at water complexes".
Juliette fulfills all that the Mannog stud tries to breed "quality halter horses that can perform" - and we have the proof of that here. Of course huge credit must also go to her training and excellent riding skills - without the human touch Juliette would not be where she is.
Many thanks to Joanna and family for getting in touch and sending us the photographs of Mannog Juliette - at work and at play. Good luck with your BE ODE 's in June on the mainland in 2011.
UPDATE ON BRITISH EVENTING SKIPTON 18TH JUNE
SECTION BE 90 SECTION H
Mannog Juliette with Tabby Wright came 5th overall in their section with a total score of 39.50 (the 1st had a score of 31.60). This was the first affiliated British Eventing competion for both of them . I managed to drive up and see Juliette on a very cold, blustery and extremely damp Sunday just outside Skipton. Just missed her dressage (got lost) but she got a great score of 31.5, her SJ (8 faults) and then she was the trailblazer for the cross country in some serious rain. This was a true XC course with professionally built solid XC jumps, up to height and scarey in places. Certainly not for the faint hearted. Through the rain we saw Tabby & Juliette galloping around clearing a HUGE hedge followed by an upright with ditch in front. Juli was just loving it and it was great to hear "Mannog Juliette is CLEAR" on the tannoy. Tremendous to watch and I was extremely proud however all the credit must go to Tabby and her sister Hazel who had travelled over by themselves from the Isle of Man to compete. Hazel came 3rd on the Saturday with her own horse. Juli was fit, healthy and loving her job and I am just so thankful she has a wonderful , knowledgeable long term home. She looked great and was hardly breathing when she had finished the cross country. They are competing in a BE event in Cumbria on the 25th June - so GOOD LUCK .
