After the horrible long wet, cold, snowy winter and cancelled early shows that we have all seemed to have experienced it was nice to at last have good weather and a well attended Wirral show on Sunday.  Took Rio (Mannog Zips Rio Grande  FPD 93%) with the usual show preparation : out of field , bath, load, show, back home.  His first show since Autumn 2017.

Rio won the Foreign Breed class and then went into the in hand ring championship.  About eight forward but two lovely types took my eye (and the judge's) : a dun Section C gelding and Rio (I am slightly biased) .  Both did a great individual show and stood well for their presentation.   Well the judge looked..... and looked.... and looked and yep, once again, the Welshie took the award above Rio!!!!  Repeat of last year when a Section B colt placed above Rio.   Just waiting for a judge to be brave enough to place an APHC USA Appaloosa above a Welshie .... but we do live in North Wales and they are both so different in type, expression  and movement.  Still a lovely show, great judge, very friendly and you have to go with the flow.  She was impressed by his beautiful head, great trot and muscling.

Rio now glows in the dark he is so clean.  He also qualified for NCPA Pony of the Year Show and the 2019 SEIB Trailblazers Championships - neither of which we shall do.
